Sorry, the question mark should have been an exclamation. See what I mean about frustration. Guess you just can't "let your fingers do the walking" without stumbling.

These darn new electronic gadgets sure beat the old standby of a string & 2 tin cans for frustration?

Actually Tom, I have no idea what happens when you click on Permalink. I tried it & the screen blinked, but that's all. You tell me.

All those pesky phone calls are such a pain. I've found a way that seems to have cut down on the bothersome junk. I use three different strategies, #1 if I don't recognize the number or if my caller ID shows that the number is unknown, I don't answer. #2 if I'm in a playful mood, I'll answer & if the person or machine on the other end starts some kind of spiel, I just set the phone down & go do something else. #3 This is the one I really like, I just give extraneous or misleading or useless answers to the questions. I figure if my time is going to be wasted I'll just return the favor.

Somehow the info has returned to the list that are used that I am a nut or a waste of time cause my junk calls have been reduced in frequency. So Pat, hang in there & just give them a taste of their own medicine with maybe a little arsenic added.

Guess it ain't gonna happen. No playoff game between the snakes & the CUBS. Guess the thumping by the CUBS earlier in the year was nice, but a playoff sweep would have made up for last year. Still there's always next year. We've become used to that around here, kinda like a motto for CUBS fans.

And Susan, this year it's our turn at last. "woo hoo"

Pat, I copied the explanation of what a permalink is from Wikipedia. Still having a difficult time figuring out all the "new-speak". Looks like a bunch of politicians had written it so real people can't understand. Or maybe because "Esperanto" was a failed project, something else is being tried. Anyway, so you don't have to type it all, here it is :)

A permalink, or permanent link, is a URL that points to a specific blog or forum entry after it has passed from the front page to the archives. Because a permalink remains unchanged indefinitely, it is less susceptible to link rot. Most modern weblogging and content-syndication software systems support such links. Other types of websites use permanent links, but the term permalink is most common within the blogosphere. Permalink is a portmanteau word made from permanent link. Permalinks are often simply stated so as to be human-readable.

Actually I kinda like the new format. And as I have a Macintosh, the load time is the same or even shorter. As far as the new "look" is concerned, it's great that the little red airplane has finally landed. I could never get rid of it by trying everything that was suggested. It's just too bad that something else many of us have become comfortable with has gone by the wayside. OH WELL.

Never been a proponent, advocate, in favor of or whatever you might call it “a flat tax”. Well since all these jokers in washington have decided that we need “tax reform”, buzz words meaning I'll get it in the backside again, I guess it's time to start contemplating that flat tax.

What we have now in the form of a tax code is absolutely ridiculous. It allows every group, business, individual, etc. to either find a loophole or to tweak the law in their favor through lobbying. While you & I continue to support programs we disagree with totally.

The only way to have a fair & equitable tax is by instituting a flat tax with ABSOLUTELY NO deductions of any kind and without the ability of Congress to increase it unless the voters approve it by voting. Now what percentage should it be?

The church only asks for a “tithe”, so what should the tax be? I have no idea. Set the percentage too low & the country might be in more dire straights than it is. Set it too hi and it would allow the run away spending cycle we are in now.

What I do know is that it's definitely time for a complete overhaul of Washington, official & un-official. There is no reason to change the Constitution, just follow it. We are rapidly approaching the point where we will no longer be the richest nation. And that is because our “employees” in Washington give away our money with out any care of what it's for. They get away with it because we allow them to. We continually elect people like Pelosi, Reid, Feinstein, Rangel & Rostenkoski. And just so the Dems feelings aren't hurt, I acknowledge there are Republicans at fault also.

I may never, in my remaining lifetime, see a truly fair tax, but I sure would like to. It may never happen, might just be a pipe dream, but if you don't dream it, it will never happen.

This sounds like a good string, something to relieve the stress of this political time. So lets tell our stories of what the PO has done to us.

My wife, who is no shrinking violet, has taken on our local PO. Now there are a whole bunch of folks who will say that you can't fight the government. Not so. You can fight them, but that doesn't mean that you will always win 100%.

We had suddenly been left in a situation where our snail mail wasn't being delivered. Seems that our new carrier wouldn't deliver to my house or many houses on my side of the block. When called, the PO told us that the carrier was afraid to deliver because my next door neighbor has 2 very large dogs that were barking & growling at the carrier. So he decided to leave our mail up at the PO for us to pick up if we wanted it. WHAT?

When confronted with the investigation by a local TV station & a story in a local paper, we suddenly started receiving our mail again being delivered by someone who spoke real english. Now in order to get even with us, some mail that we sent w/o a return address was opened, some of it payments, & then returned to the address on the checks a while after they were due.

We've saved all the returned stuff & will be interviewed by that TV station in a bit. So even though we have had a little trouble, we'll get some relief from the employees who think they can shove their employer around.
