Disc Golf Tournament

Disc golf is a disc game in which individual players throw a flying disc into a basket or at a target. According to the Professional Disc Golf Association, "The object of the game is to traverse a course from beginning to end in the fewest number of throws of the disc." Similar to golf but different, mostly because the disc is larger, flat and is thrown not struck. Many of the rules between disc golf and ball golf are alike but many are also different because of balls being balls and discs being discs the manner of play requires different rules. For example, golf balls rarely get stuck in trees, discs, however, can frequently hang there. Therefore, rules for playing from such a position must be different than ball golf. Also, disc golfers may carry as many types of discs as they want, bll golfers are limited to what they may carry. So, go get'em. Chose your club or in this case, your disc, and play!

Jesse Perkins throws this disc hard against the wind in hopes of curving it into the 7th basket. The difficult course for the second annual disc golf tournament was staged mostly on the southwest side of Rumsey Park, behind the Kiwanis ball fields and in the woods behind the ramadas. The tournament took place Saturday, Oct. 4.
