Why would an attorney in Yuma, an architect in Scottsdale, and a student in Round Valley, contribute to a mayors campaign in Payson?
How do you average out how much is donated at meetings passing a hat for contributions? Did each person give or did some give more than the allowed amount? $5714.56 Just wondering. Did some people not want thier names listed and how much was given?
I didn't say they weren't friends. Yes, they wanted to support him, but any campaign fund raiser I went to they gave me a receipt right then and they knew how much and who gave it. I thought the 56 cents was a nice touch. (:
The Yuma attorney will be the new town attorney here. The Scottsdale architect will be the new head of the Payson building department The Round Valley student would be offered dean of admissions at Marcy Rodgers community kids school.
Shovelhead, It is Rogers not Rodgers and it is not a school.
Maybe you are right on the first two, new town attorney and building dept. The student would probably get in to the college here on a pass or be another CEO at the hospital. (:
well the mayor got the water to payson by him self by the ads but been going on for what 10 to 15 years so he did it by only living here what 5 maybe 6 years and been mayor for 2 years. blah blah according to him .I think Ed Blair was the first to mention Urgent Care,so maybe he was the one that brought it here.
Marylou, No, I missed that article, what part of the paper was it in? I think some of the enrollment drop is due to illegals leaving.
Yes, there should be more work done to get light industry here. Antique shops, and restaurants won't do it. At one time there were 6 mexican food, 4 chinese, and I don't know how many pizza places. I was told a few years ago there were 51 eating places in Payson. Seems an excessive amount for the population. Of course they keep opening and closing. People don't realize you have to at least break even with the local residents. The tourists are the gravey, and they usually stop at the fast food places. I wouldn't have another restaurant if someone gave it to me free and clear and all stocked with food! I think it is the hardest most unpredictable business in the world.
If the neighbors and town don't leave the Door Stop alone they will probably be moving. Starting pay there is $12.00 an hour. Another empty building at the airport and the town thinks they need more buildings there. DUH
Until this town gets some decent jobs and some light industry, getting new business that make can make it, is going to be awfully hard.Did you notice in last nites paper, how mant students the schools have lost? Thats up from what I knew by about 25.That doesn't bode well for the town, if the younger familys are having to leave because of no work.If gas prices keep going up you won't have, people living here and working in the valley, like they have been doing.
Mrs.Haught, if you don't already know, you are being challenged by one of the Mayors senior posse deputy's and hand picked town committee members. I know what your talking about and the ad gives the intentional "perception" of taking credit for solving Paysons alleged hyped water crisis.
Don, I have noticed people hear what they want to when they listen to the ads, and read into whatever they want on here. Still getting to you that you aren't on a committee? Who would want an ex officer that doesn't enforce laws they don't like on a town committee. Think about it !
Actually Don, Hal was hand picked by the BREWER COUNCIL.
Nice try though. But it sure does get tiring trying to correct all the fabricated stories about Bob Edwards. And why is it you never point out some of the "untruths" put out by the other side? Like when he decided to run, and why he decided to run.
It will be over soon thankfully. Then what will we argue about?
Pat That ad says it all you do not have to put anything into it, I like the end of it where they tell the kids baths are on now we have water or close to this, like there has not been enough water to take baths, as far as i know payson never has been out of water
This is getting so far out of hand, its silly. The ads speak for themselves. If your are so enamored wih the mayor and his buddies, maybe you ought to pay more attention to the ads and the radio Some of the ads on the radio were a little far out.I've noticed most of them are gone now as they were a little much..Now that this election is about over, the name calling and complaining can start with the County Supervisors race, which comes up in Nov.Thank you, Don, but my name is Marylou. The Mrs makes me feel a lot older then I want to. be
Marylou, At the council meetings and candidate debates Mayor Edwards has repeatedly thanked Buzz Walker, Sam Streichman, Tim Wright, Lynn Godfrey, Debra Galbraith, LaRon Garret, Senator Kyl, prior Payson Mayor's and all the many others who have worked on Blue Ridge water access over the past years. He has done the same in his print ads in the paper. I think he has done a good job of trying to give credit where credit is due.
Actually Dean, your right. Brewer did appoint Mr. Bass. But only after she was "intimidated" in to it by the angry yelling posse mob at that particular town meeting. All during the great Star Valley water campaign hoopla. I think she also wanted to show that she was willing to be fair in his appointment even though she knew he was point man for her opposition and future campaign. My spin on it.
Hal I didnt notice all those names in his ads.Why would he mentionDebra Galbraith? She wasn't around when Buzz and others started going after Blue Ridge water.I could say a lot more but they would remove it, so i;ll keep my mouth shut.I have been around Payson a lot longer then most of you as I came here in1949,and I have seen lots of people that I think leave a lot to be desired, and I;ll leave it at that
You know, there are so many things I would like to say also Marylou, but what's the point? Our minds are made up, no one is going to switch to the other side, I don't believe a word you say, you don't believe a word I say, so it just keeps going 'round and 'round.
One thing I know for sure, a lot of the things you have been told about the mayor are not true. All it takes is a comment from someone that doesn't like him, then it starts snowballing until the truth is so distorted people start to actually believe the things they have been told. It won't be long now till this is all over, and I won't have to hear anymore of those irritating radio ads by Kenny "I'm just an old farm boy" Who.
We can't know what the future will bring, but we do know what has happened in the past. And I for one am amazed at how long these people have been working to get rid of Bob Edwards, and get the power back. It's really sad that the mayor has not been given any credit for the great changes he's made, no thank you, nothing, just try to discredit him.
So what happens now if Kenny Who sits in the mayors chair? Does he just sweep all that good stuff out? Or does he continue the good things mayor Edwards has started? I guess we will know soon, then we can stop arguing with each other about Local Politics, which just keeps getting dirtier and dirtier.
If you watched the council meeting last nite you can see that all that is gold does not glitter. If you think hes done so much for this town look at foreclosures.com There is a lot of them up here. I know its not all his fault, but hes not helping it by clamping down on construction.Look at the poor people in Swiss. The town has dinked around with that signage for over a year, and the gentleman flat out told him that the stores out there are hurting and some have already gone out of business. Now they have peoples hope up on the drainage out in Payson Ranchos. They have the money to start it but then they have to wait for Hortins money to finish it.The way they are doing this it will be like all the other contracts. We could have another 100yr flood before it gets done. I count the good things hes done that are visible, not the talking ones.
It was a contractors wife that stood up and was trying to delay it because she is on the signage committee. Mayor Edwards was the one pushing to get it done.
Marylou, read my post under Business closing and why. add beauty shops to that list.
There are foreclosures all over the nation, Is that the Mayor's fault too?No, most of the buyers fell into the trap of adjustable rate mortgages and the intrest never goes down always up.. Or else they had a mortgage company that jiggled the figures to get them qualified.
A couple seldom loses a house because they can't make the house payment. They buy a house, then put in a pool, then a fence, the old furniture doesn't look good so they buy new furniture, then the car dies and they buy a new car, then the wife gets pregnant and quits her job. The payments are made on the smaller items because they are smaller payments, then they start getting behind on the larger house payment and there goes the house. It sure couldn't be that they are friends of Kenny Evans and wanted to show their support for his run at the throne here in Payson.
Sinister back door political dealings have to be the real reason.

I like the sinister back door version.

You know he has helped the seniors and blah, blah, blah according to him.
