I think it must have been the HS as the atheletic director and someone else was on this morning. Something was said about police and fireman having the day off so the students should or something like that. As I said I just caught the tail end of a sentence. Any kid that protests during school hours should be escorted to some kind of detention and thier parents called immediately. Then maybe a good kick in the rear, to the parent and the kid. (: llandproud you are going to have to listern to the forum on KMOG it only takes an hour.
all I could find out was that a kid wore a shirt to school that said it is 9-11 we should be home. Maybe or maybe not there will be somethng in one of the newspapers. First I have ever heard of the fire and police getting the day off. Surely they wouldn't all stay home.
I don't recall any protest being conducted by our students on the 11th, however I am aware that some of the students were going to ditch some or all of their classes. I haven't heard the exact reason, but it had something to do with 9/11. It was mainly high school students who were ditching classes/school. Those who were found wandering during the school day were picked up, returned to their school site and then reintroduced to one of the school administrators for punitive consequences.
Twelve students decided to protest. They didn't check with anyone at the H.S. They just didn't go to class and showed up on the football field at about 10:00 a.m. saying they were protesting. Mr. Fruth and I were in a meeting so Mr. Heizer went out and spoke to them. He let them know that if they were going to be on campus, they would have to go to class. He also gave them a mini-lesson on civil disobedience, the crux of which was, you must be willing to pay the consequences. They are currently paying the consequences. My stance is this: If I have a student who is engaged in the school, passing their classes and active in the community and they come to me and talk about "protesting" I'm listening. However, if students are not passing all their classes and are not generally engaged in the school and in fact serving in In School Suspension the day before for cussing out Mr. Fruth (as one was), I'm more inclined to believe they are more interested in getting out of class and less interested in memorializing the victims of 911.

what was the protest at the school yesterday? I only caught the tail end of a sentence on the radio?

Since I never listen to KMOG and only rarely to KCMA, I haven't heard anything about it. Which school? The high school?

Pat, remember the days when Tim Fruth would come on here and answer questions? Wish he would come back and do that now.
Maybe you could call him and ask what it was about.

Related to 9/11? If so, is this the first year for police and fire to have the day off? After 6 years?

If you want information ask a kid, not the resource officer.

Thank you Mr. Sandoval,
You cleared it much better than the officer.
